Musical Oz!

On April 11 & 12, 2025, Yantai Huasheng International School (YHIS) and Yantai International Academy (YIA) presented the American musical, Oz! The musical, written by Tim Kelly and Bill Francoeur and directed by theater instructor, Paul Bower, is based on the classic story, The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum.

51 students in grades 5 through 12 offered four performances—a student matinee on Friday afternoon, and three public performances on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening. The students were supported by a live band with student and teacher musicians, as well as design and production staff comprised of school faculty and students.

Hundreds from the local community attended the show, including families with children and government representatives. There were many laughs throughout the performances as all seemed to enjoy the comic story. This was the fifth main stage production at YHIS and YIA since 2023. Our shows continue to increase in popularity as more people in Yantai learn about our program. We are proud to be able to offer our stage productions to the community and we invite you to attend our future presentations!
