Library Announcement, Chinese Book, Fun Boat Race
May 22, 2025
Library Announcements
We would like to inform you of two important matters:
1.Book Return and Borrowing Schedule
From May 23 to May 28, 2025, all secondary students are required to return any library books they have borrowed. During this period, the library's borrowing service for secondary students will be suspended, while the return service will remain available. We sincerely ask you to remind your children to return their books promptly to avoid any inconvenience.
2.Library Policy on Lost and Damaged Books
To maintain the quality of our library collection, here are the policies regarding lost and damaged books:
Lost Books
If a secondary student loses a library book, they are required to reimburse the library. The reimbursement amount is the current value of the book plus an additional 40% to cover the shipping and customs costs for replacement.
Damaged Books
When secondary students return damaged books, fines will be levied based on the following assessment:
- Minor Repairable Damage: This includes minor damage to the dustcover, a single torn page, pencil marks, or dirty pages/edges. The fine for this type of damage is 10 RMB.
- Significant Repairable Damage: Such as a split binding, torn cover, bite marks, or slight water damage. The fine for this is 25 RMB.
- Non-Usable Damage: For example, major water damage, mold, large spills, severe bite marks, or crayon markings. In this case, the full replacement price of the book must be paid.
Please note that if a secondary student pays the full replacement cost for a damaged book, the damaged item will become their property.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation in helping us maintain a well-organized and functional library.
Chinese Book
The Chinese Department has published its fifth edition of Hua Yun, a collection of our students’ literacy works. A hard copy of the book has been handed out to students in Chinese class.
Fun Boat Race
In celebration of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, the Chinese Department will host a "Fun Boat Race" for Elementary students & Middle School students in Chinese class on Friday, May 30. To participate, students are required to design and make their own boats at home. We kindly ask parents to remind students to complete their boats and to supervise them while using scissors and other tools at home to ensure their safety. A letter with detailed information has been sent home with your child. We look forward to a fun and exciting event!
MS & HS Robotics Summer Camp
Thank you to everyone who responded to the interest survey. We are pleased to announce that the Robotics Summer Camp for Middle and High School students will take place as follows:
Dates: June 16–20, 2025
Time: 9:00 - 11:30 am
Who: Current Middle and High School students, and students entering Middle School in the 2025–2026 school year (current 5th graders)
Location: Robotics classroom
This camp is designed to give students focused time to build, plan, and code their robots in preparation for the upcoming VEX Robotics competitions in the 2025–2026 school year.
• The Middle School competition will be held on February 9–10, 2026 at Wuhan Yangtze International School.
• The High School competition will take place on February 23–24, 2026 at Yantai Huasheng International School.
We understand that students often face time constraints during the school year, making it difficult to complete their robot builds, program effectively, and practice driving. This summer camp offers them a valuable head start and helps ease the workload during the academic year. It also allows them more flexibility to engage in other After-School Activities (ASAs).
If your child is interested in participating, further information and the registration form will be shared with you shortly.
Thank you for your continued support as we strengthen our robotics program and create meaningful opportunities for our students.
