RoboSharks shine at ACAMIS VEX National Championships

The ACAMIS VEX National Championships for international schools in China was held at the Canadian International School in Guangzhou, bringing together nearly 100 teams from 25 schools across the country. Teams competed in both VEX IQ and VEX V5 divisions, striving to earn the prestigious Excellence Award, which grants a ticket to the VEX World Championship in the United States. 

Four schools from our LifePlus organization participated in the event: Chengdu (CDIS), Wuhan (WYIS), Tianjin (TIS), and Yantai (YHIS). The competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase their hard work and dedication from the past semester.

Following the Wuhan VEX IQ competition, four of our middle school teams qualified for the championships. In the weeks leading up to the event, students worked tirelessly, practicing during Robotics class and staying late in the Robotics lab after school. Many team members were new to VEX IQ, requiring extra effort to compete at a high level.

At the finals, all of our teams performed exceptionally well in the qualification matches. They showed resilience and determination, with several teams making significant jumps in the rankings. In an exciting finish, the partnership of our two middle school teams tied for 3rd place in the Teamwork Challenge. Unfortunately, due to a tiebreaker based on overall points, they finished in 4th place. Another team finished in 9th place, while the last team faced mechanical challenges with robots breaking down. Despite these setbacks, they fought hard and achieved strong scores in their final matches.

Our MS Robotics teams demonstrated outstanding teamwork, perseverance, and growth throughout the competition. They gained invaluable experience, and we hope they will continue to pursue their passion for robotics in the coming school year. Go YHIS RoboSharks!
