Senior Departure Seminar

The recent Senior Departure Seminar (SDS) in Wuhan proved to be an enriching experience for our graduating class of 2025. Held from March 20-22, this year's program successfully built upon previous programs while introducing innovative elements that enhanced its impact. The early arrival in Wuhan, necessitated by flight schedules from Yantai, unexpectedly created valuable bonding opportunities for our seniors, allowing them to strengthen their relationships in a more relaxed environment than typical school trips provide.

This year's SDS introduced a refreshing approach to transition activities, focusing on personal storytelling and intentional farewell planning. The diverse workshop offerings were particularly impactful, covering crucial life skills from personal finance management to navigating international student experiences. The inclusion of alumni perspectives via virtual sessions added authentic insights into university life across different cultural contexts. Practical sessions on roommate relationships, health management, and self-defense demonstrated commitment to preparing students for the multifaceted challenges of university life.

The program struck an excellent balance between educational content and social engagement, exemplified by the enjoyable activities at Be Infinity in the Tiandi Yifeng mall and the memorable banquet at the hotel. The culminating RAFT (Reconciliation, Affirmation, Farewell, Transition) activity provided a meaningful framework for students to process their transitions. Perhaps most significantly, we witnessed the formation of new friendships across different schools while existing relationships deepened. Our seniors demonstrated an impressive balance of responsibility and enjoyment throughout the event. Their engagement in both structured activities and free time showcased their maturity and readiness for the next phase of their lives.
