Yantai Huasheng International School (YHIS) is an international school in Yantai, Shandong, for expatriate students aged 3 through grade 12. At Yantai Huasheng, we believe all students, from age 3 to 93, are uniquely gifted and designed for a purpose. As no two flowers are alike, so no two people are alike. I believe it is our job as educators not only to pass on knowledge, but also to impart wisdom that guides our students in reaching and developing their God-given potential. In discovering their gifts and abilities, our students will be equipped to follow the path they were designed to take, to enter the field of study or workplace most suitable to their gifts and abilities. Therefore, at Yantai Huasheng International School, we support each child to develop their natural gifts and abilities at an age-appropriate level. Our students are exposed to the best of a broad-based international education. We do this by giving our students opportunities, choices, and possibilities.
Our students interact with professional and passionate foreign and national teachers on a day-to-day basis. Research has clearly shown that the teacher-student relationship has the greatest impact on student learning. Our teachers are more than just educators – they are mentors, coaches, and counselors. Students are the hope of the future, and providing them with the right attitude, skills, wisdom and knowledge are crucial to their future success in whatever field they choose to enter. At Yantai Huasheng our key emphasis and commitment is to the student. We judge our success on the success of our students.

Conviction
Our school is most successful when we’re all working as a team. Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) meets regularly and organizes a variety of events to bring students, staff and parents together.
Service
Students at Yantai Huasheng International School dedicate much of their time, skills and energy to others. From supporting various school events, to fundraising for charities; we show and teach our students how to make a positive difference.
Transformation
There’s more to learning than gaining knowledge. Learning stretches who we are, challenges us, and offers us a fuller life. We also make sure every child in the school knows they are loved, valued, and capable. In fact, our dedicated programs for student wellbeing, musical and TED X Youth were the first of their kind in Yantai.
Impact
Learning gives us the knowledge and skills to get out of our comfort zone and contribute something of worth. Our courses develop and celebrate leadership qualities in our students through critical and creative thinking; with many of them going on to world-class universities and successful careers.
A brief history
Small beginnings
As Yantai Huasheng International School, we became Yantai’s first English language international school licensed by the Shandong Provincial Government, opening our doors in August 2016.
Putting our expertise to the test
We became a College Board testing center, offering SAT Suite of Assessments, which includes the PSAT8/9, PSAT10, NMSQT and SAT exams.
Recognized for excellence
We earn our first accreditation, AdvancED (now known as Cognia).
Open for the community
We became an HSK testing center, and the only testing center in the entire city of Yantai able to offer HSK testing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
