Special Assembly: Insights from a Legend
We are honored to welcome Olympic Champion Ma Yanhong—the first Chinese gymnast to win gold at both the World Championships and Olympic Games—for an exclusive assembly with in the Large Auditorium on Friday, May 16, from 11:45 to 12:30.

In this special interview-style event, Mr. Miller will guide a conversation exploring Champion Ma's journey of discovering purpose through discipline, overcoming failure, and achieving extraordinary success. The session will be conducted in Chinese with English translation provided.

This is a unique opportunity to gain wisdom from a true sporting legend. Let's give Champion Ma a warm welcome as she shares her inspiring story with our community.

PTO Executive Committee
PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is an integral part of YHIS. Since it began serving YHIS, the PTO has raised funds for a charity organization and school events. In addition, the PTO organizes and supports multiple events to bring together the entire YHIS community. The school is looking for parents who would consider becoming a PTO EXCO (executive committee) member for the next school year. The executive officer positions available are:

• President
• Treasurer
• Secretary
• ECC Representative
• Elementary Representative
• Middle School Representative
• High School Representative
• Chinese Language Group Leader
• Russian Language Group Leader
• Portuguese Language Group Leader

Requirements for Office:
Candidates must have been YHIS parents for at least one year in the past and commit to at least one additional year in the future, starting from the beginning of their term.

Terms of Office:
Officers are elected for a single academic year and may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms in the same position.

Election Process:
While all positions are voluntary, in the event of multiple candidates for a single role, a ballot vote will be conducted. Should there be no candidates for a particular position, the Head Principal will review recommendations and make appointments accordingly. Applications and voting will be facilitated online for convenience and accessibility. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 28.

Invoice for 2025-2026 School Year Tuition Fees
The Finance Office will send an invoice to all parents who have re-enrolled their child(ren) by the end of June. If you would like an invoice before then, please contact our Finance Office at finance@yhischina.com.

ECC & Elementary Open Day for Parents
We would like to invite you to observe your child’s class at YHIS on Monday, May 26, from 8:30 to 10:00. We will begin the morning with a short welcome ceremony in the 4th-floor auditorium at 8:30. Afterward, feel free to visit classrooms to experience a glimpse of your child’s school day. You’re welcome to move between classes as your schedule allows, and chairs will be provided for your comfort. We’re excited to share this window into your child’s learning journey and look forward to seeing you there.

ECC & Elementary Spring Concert
The ECC and Elementary students will be sharing their musical talents with our school community on Friday, June 6, at 2:00-3:20 pm. They have been preparing songs in their music classes and are excited to share with parents, teachers, and classmates.

Practice Rehearsal: We will hold a practice rehearsal for Elementary students after school on Wednesday, June 4. All Elementary students will go to the bus at 4:25 pm that day. ECC students will go home at their normal time.

Concert Clothes: All ECC and Elementary students should wear special clothes on June 6 for the concert. Each student can choose what color to wear. In addition, they may wear navy blue or khaki pants/skirts. You can see examples here. Please avoid large pictures and logos on the clothes. Students may wear the clothes that morning, or bring clothes to change.

Middle School Open Day for Parents
We would like to invite middle school parents to observe their child’s classes on Friday, May 30, from 1:00 to 3:15 pm. Parents are welcome to move between classes as your schedule allows, and chairs will be provided for your comfort. We’re excited to share this window into your child’s learning journey and look forward to seeing you there.

AP Course & Dual Enrollment Presentation
We invite parents to attend an informative presentation about AP courses for the upcoming school yearand dual enrollment opportunities. The session will be led by Dr. Tobin Holden and will take place in the 4th-floor auditorium on Friday, May 30, from 2:30 to 3:15 pm.

Secondary Spring Concert
Secondary music students will perform their final concert of the year on Friday, May 30 at 3:35 pm. All students in middle school and high school music classes will perform. The students have been working hard to learn challenging music and are excited to share with our school community! We hope many parents, staff and classmates can attend.

The concert will take place directly after school from 15:35 - 17:00.

Dress: performing students should bring or wear these clothes to school that day:

  • Middle School - All middle school music students should wear the new formal uniform. (black pants, black shoes, white formal shirt, blue sweater, tie).
  • High School Boys - black shoes, black suit, white shirt
  • High School Girls - black shoes, school dress
