New Start, Parent Dance Class, Parent Open House

**Handbook Signature Booklet **
The Welcome Packet sent home includes the Handbook Signature Booklet, Personal Privacy Consent Form, and student pick-up information. LifePlus requires all students and parents to complete and return the booklet by Friday, August 15. We kindly ask for your support in signing the booklet and sending it back with your child to their homeroom or advisory teacher.
Attendance Policy
Parents should send an email to attendance@yhischina.com by 8:00 am on the day their child will be unable to attend school. The specific reason for the absence should also be given at this time.
Students should not be sent to school if they have:
- Severe colds
- Fever (above 99.86°F/37.7°C)
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Undetermined rash or spots
- Lice
Parents should not give medicine in the morning to reduce fever, and then send their child to school.
If a student is sent home with fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, the student may not return to school the next day.
Students may return to school:
● Nasal discharge or phlegm is clear
● No fever for 24 hours (no medication to reduce fever for 24 hours)
● Has not vomited or had diarrhea for 24 hours
Traditional Chinese Dance Class for YHIS Moms
To foster connection within our school community, we are excited to offer a free, 5-week traditional Chinese dance class for YHIS moms from August 22 to September 26. The course will be taught by a professional dance instructor provided by YHIS, and will prepare participants to perform during International Day on Saturday, September 27. This beginner-friendly class will introduce traditional dance movements and techniques, while helping participants build confidence for the final performance.
Each class will run for one hour. Space is limited to 20 participants, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested, please sign up by completing the registration form by Thursday, August 21.
Class Schedule & Location
Time: 10:00-11:15 on every Friday from August 22 to September 26
Location: 2nd-floor Blue Room in the ECC wing
What to wear for practice: Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and thick socks
Performance costumes: Parents will be responsible for purchasing their own costumes.

School QR Codes for Payment
Parents can pay different kinds of fees for their child through two school QR codes. Please refer to the table below for more information. Our finance staff will take care of your requests within one working day.
HSK Testing for 2025
The table below outlines the schedule and levels of the HSK tests from August to December 2025. Registration for all these tests are open now.
Taking the HSK test is open to anyone. You can register and make your payment through the official HSK website. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation email. Registration will close as soon as the capacity (30 participants per session) is reached.
All HSK tests will be administered on school computers.

Applying for or Extending Residence Permit
The school provides assistance in applying for or extending residence permits for students over 18 and for a parent whose spouse has returned to their home country. If one of your family members falls into one of these two categories and their residence permit is set to expire before March 31, 2026, please inform the school by completing this survey by August 15, 2025. We will follow up with those who complete the survey to start the application process.
Parent ID Card
Parents who drop off and pick up their child may now enter the campus during drop-off and pick-up times. The guards will let you in when you present your parent ID card. To obtain a card, please refer to registration instruction and apply for a parent ID card.
For campus access outside of drop-off/pick-up times, please continue to contact Parent Liaisons Mrs. Jenny Kim or Mrs. Winnie Zhang for approval.
Free Dental and Vision Checks
The Education Bureau has been working with private hospitals to provide free dental and vision screenings for schools in the KaiFaQu. As such, our ECC/elementary students will have a chance to take a free dental and vision check at school. The dental check will be conducted by Yantai Stomatologic Hospital (烟台口腔医院), The vision check will be conducted by MingRun Ophthamologic Hospital (明润眼科医院). The screenings will be conducted throughout the school day on Thursday, August 21, and each one will take about 10 minutes. If you would like your child to receive this service, please register your child through this registration form.
ECC & Elementary Parent Open House
The ECC & Elementary Parent Open House will be held on Friday, August 15. We warmly invite all parents to attend and meet their child’s homeroom teachers. Please note that students will be in Specials classes during this time, so Specials teachers will not be available at the Open House. Please refer to the schedule below.
Fall Play Audition
The YHIS/YIA drama department will present the play, A Dickens Christmas Carol, this fall. Auditions, open to all secondary students, will be Wednesday, August 20, from 3:35 to 4:50 pm in the choir room (420).
Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays & Fridays, August 27 – November 28, 3:30 -4:50 pm. Performances are scheduled for December 5 & 6, 2:00 & 7:00 pm.
This is a fun Christmas story based on the novel by Gary Peterson. There are many great roles available for the students. Please encourage your child(ren) to audition!
