International Day
International Day is our annual tradition of celebrating our diversity and learning about countries at YHIS. This year's International Day is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, November 7.
Although the event officially begins at 10:00, we kindly request that secondary students arrive by 9:00 am and ECC/elementary students by 9:30 am. Mr. Chris Zhang will share the bus schedule closer to the date. The program will kick off with a flag parade. Two student representatives from each home country will proudly carry their flags. After the last flag-bearer enters the parade, all participants will take turns to join in the walk around campus.
There are many performances for you to enjoy. Additionally, the secondary advisory students and teachers are organizing an array of engaging activities in the courtyard for all participants to enjoy. Our PTO is also contributing with booths representing Korea, China, Russia, and Brazil, offering finger foods and cultural activities/games. The school will provide everyone with hotdogs, chicken salad, and Lays Chips.
Jeans Day This Friday
All students and staff are welcome to wear jeans with their school polo shirts or other YHIS branded tops this Friday! ECC and Elementary students participating in Spirit Day may still dress up as a historical figure.

Elementary Student-Led Conferences
Beginning this school year, Elementary is excited to transition from traditional Parent-Teacher Conferences to Student-Led Conferences (SLC). Student-Led Conferences will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, October 29, from 12:30–4:00 pm, and all day on Friday, October 30, from 8:00 am–5:00 pm.
Students are currently preparing to share their learning, achievements, and goals with you. This conference format is different from those held at YHIS in previous years, as students will take the lead in presenting their progress and reflecting on their learning journey.
As this is an important part of the learning process, all students are expected to participate and present. If you have not already done so, please remember to sign up for a conference time using the sign-up instructions that were previously emailed to you.
We look forward to seeing you and celebrating your child's learning together.

Accelerated Reader and myON for Elementary Students
Reading is fundamental to students’ development. At YHIS, we encourage students to develop a love of reading through programs such as AR (Accelerated Reader) and myON. Please refer to the parent guide to learn more about how these programs work and how they support students’ reading development.
Playground Rules
We love seeing families enjoying the courtyard after school. To help keep all students safe and ensure everyone can enjoy the playground, please help your children follow these playground rules:
- Bicycles, tricycles, and similar riding toys are reserved for our ECC students. Elementary students should not use them.
- Please return all bicycles and tricycles to their designated storage area when finished.
- For safety reasons, do not climb onto the roofs of the train cars.
- Do not climb up the outside of the large covered slide. Please use the stairs and slide as intended.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable play environment for all children.

They may not wander the halls or be in classrooms unsupervised by a teacher. On days when they participate in after-school activities, the departure time is 4:55 pm for secondary students, and all students should leave campus within 10 minutes after the completion of those activities.
