A Record-Breaking Season for Yantai Huasheng Basketball
Demonstrating persistence
On February 13-15, the YHIS Sharks competed in the 2025 LifePlus Basketball Tournament in Tianjin at our sister school, Tianjin International School (TIS). The boys went into the tournament determined to improve upon last year’s showing, and they did just that. The first game on day one against the CDIS Pandas was a minor setback, ending in a draw, but the Sharks bit back against the WYIS Buffaloes and won their second fixture.
On day two, the Sharks faced the tournament favorite and fell short against the TIS Eagles. The boys finished the day with wins against the YIA Leopards and ISQ Dolphins, earning them the second seed going into the elimination round on Saturday.
On day three, the Sharks defeated the WYIS Buffaloes in an exhilarating and exhausting four-overtime game. The path to the finals was hard-fought and ultimately won by the Sharks.
In the tournament championship, the Sharks fell for a second time against the one-loss TIS Eagles, taking second place—the highest finish in YHIS basketball program history.
