Annual MUN Conference in Yantai

Convergence through Turbulence:

Yantai Huasheng International School was honored to host MUNTAI IV, our Model United Nations conference held every two years. More than 180 students from nine international schools across China gathered to participate in thoughtful debate and collaboration.

This year’s theme, “Convergence through Turbulence,” explored how periods of global instability—such as wars, economic crises, climate disasters, and rapid technological change—can also become opportunities for cooperation and unity. While turbulence often creates uncertainty, history shows that shared challenges can bring nations and communities together to pursue common solutions.

Throughout the conference, students worked together to propose solutions to pressing global issues while representing different nations and perspectives. Across eight committees, delegates delivered speeches, debated resolutions, and collaborated to amend and strengthen one another’s ideas. The experience allowed students to engage with current world issues from new perspectives while developing their skills in diplomacy, public speaking, and critical thinking.

One of the highlights of the event was the Bash on Friday evening. Students took the stage to share their talents, entertaining the audience with singing, musical performances, and even a bit of dancing. It was a joyful evening that celebrated the community of the conference.

MUNTAI IV was a great success. Students not only strengthened their debating skills but also built friendships with peers from across China. We look forward to welcoming everyone again for the next MUNTAI conference.
