Spring Musical Auditions
Secondary drama teacher, Mr. Bower, announced the YIA/YHIS spring musical this week—The Sound of Music! This is one of the most popular musicals worldwide and we look forward to seeing our wonderful students on stage as they tell the amazing story of the Von Trapp family singers and their escape from Nazi-occupied Austria at the outbreak of World War II.

Auditions: December 10 after school (sign up in the drama classroom)
Performances: April 24 & 25, 2026

Student Wearing Formal Uniform during Board Meeting
Next week, our school will host a board meeting on Wednesday, November 12. To help us show our school spirit and look our best, all students are asked to wear their formal school uniform on this day. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us present our best to our guests.

Please also review the uniform bottom policy:

Students may wear solid colored navy blue, black, or khaki long pants or shorts that come no higher than the student’s fingertips as they stand straight with hands by their side. Females may also wear skirts or skorts (no higher than 6 cm above the knee). Bottoms must not be made of light-weight, spandex/lycra® type materials that are clingy. They cannot be ripped, frayed or have words, stripes, patterns or mottos on them. Jeans are not acceptable. No part of the student’s abdomen or back should be exposed.

Quarter 1 Report Card
Parents can access their child’s report card or progress report through PowerSchool. Once you log into PowerSchool, click the “Student Reports” icon in the menu.

Leaving Student Survey
As we approach the end of the second semester, we understand that some families may be repatriating to their home country. If you know that you will be leaving YHIS at the end of this semester, we kindly request that you inform us by completing this leaving student survey before Friday, November 21. We will then send a withdraw form home with your child. We hope to have some time to support your child through the transition process and prepare necessary documents. Please note that upon submission of the withdraw form, we will prepare the necessary documents for your child. As the semester ends on Friday, December 19, the documents will only be available for pick up from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the admissions office on that day.

Secondary Talent Show Time Change
Due to a scheduling conflict with the theater, we have adjusted the time for the Secondary Talent Show this Friday. The event will take place from 12:40 to 1:45 pm in the theater, instead of after school. Parents are welcome to come and support our performing students.

TIANMUN
TIANMUN is a three-day United Nations simulation for G8-12 hosted by Tianjin International School (TIS). Students from schools all over China will work together to develop and debate innovative solutions to current world issues. TIANMUN is scheduled for November 13-15, and this year's theme is Convergence beyond Sovereignties.
