International Day
International Day is our annual tradition of celebrating our diversity and learning about countries at YHIS. This year's International Day is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, November 1. All parents are welcome to come and enjoy the celebration!

Although the event officially begins at 10:00, we kindly request that secondary students arrive by 9:00 and ECC/elementary students by 9:30. Mr. Chris Zhang will share the bus schedule closer to the date. The program will kick off with a flag parade. Two student representatives from each home country, class, and advisory group, selected by their teachers, will proudly carry their flags. After the last flag-bearer enters the parade, all participants will take turns to join in the walk around campus.

There are many performances for you to enjoy. Additionally, the secondary advisory students and teachers are organizing an array of engaging activities in the courtyard for all students to enjoy. Our PTO is also contributing with booths representing Korea, China, Russia, and Brazil, offering finger foods and cultural activities/games. The school will provide everyone with hotdogs, chicken salad, and Lays Chips.

Aerobic Dance Class for Moms (Second Term)
To continue fostering connection within our school community, we are delighted to offer the second term of the free Aerobic Dance Class for YHIS & YIA moms. The next 6-week course will run from October 30 to December 4, every Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The class will once again be taught by Mrs. BoKyoung Lee, a professional dance instructor. Designed for beginners, it will feature simple and fun movements—including aerobics, Zumba, and rhythm boxing—to promote both health and confidence. No prior dance experience is required—just bring comfortable clothes, energy, and a smile!

Class Details
• Dates: Every Thursday from October 30–December 4 (6 weeks)
• Time: 11:00 am–12:00 pm
• Location: 2nd-floor Blue Room in the ECC wing
• What to bring: Water bottle, comfortable clothes, yoga mat, indoor athletic shoes

Space is limited to 25 participants. If you are interested, please sign up by completing the registration form by Tuesday, October 28. Once the registration closes, participants will be randomly selected, and those selected will be invited to join a WeChat group

We look forward to another joyful season of dancing and connection together!

Fall Parent-Teacher Conference
A letter with detailed information about the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conference has been sent to your email.

Fall MAP Growth Test Report
Parents of students from Kindergarten through G10 can access their child’s MAP report through PowerSchool. Once you log into PowerSchool, click the “DocBox” icon in the menu.

These MAP Growth tests not only determine the student’s instructional level, but also measure their academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in various subjects. Please note that MAP Growth scores are just one data point that teachers use to determine how a student is performing. Please discuss any questions that you have about your child’s performance with your child’s teacher.

ECC Parent Open Class Day
ECC parents are invited to come and observe their children’s classes on Monday, November 10.
JK and Foundations: 8:00–9:00 AM
Parents will join the morning circle time followed by a lesson.

Parents are encouraged to arrive together with their child and separate only once during the morning, rather than twice. This approach helps ease separation anxiety, especially for Foundation students.

Kindergarten: 12:45–1:45 PM
Parents will observe quiet play, a structured lesson, and Chinese class.

LifePlus Middle School Soccer Tournament
YHIS is hosting the LifePlus Middle School Soccer Tournament on Friday-Saturday, October 24-25. Three other LifePlus schools are participating in the tournament.

Many classes are planning to come and cheer for our YHIS teams during the games. The PTO, Learning Support Team, and Student Council will also be selling snacks. Students may pay with cash or via WeChat.

We are looking forward to an exciting and competitive tournament for all. Go Sharks!
