Christmas Market Date Change, Fall Drama, November Shark Times

Letter from Mr. Miller on Christmas Market Schedule Adjustment
We want to share an important update regarding the Christmas Market schedule.

The Chinese central government has designated December 13 as Nanjing Massacre National Memorial Day, a day of solemn remembrance. As we honor the significance of this day for many in our community, the school has decided to adjust the date of the Christmas Market to ensure our activities are respectful and aligned with the spirit of the day.

The Christmas Market will now take place on Friday, December 12, from 3:00–5:30 pm.To support this change, the school schedule on that day will be adjusted as follows:

• ECC & Elementary will dismiss at 2:45 pm to board their buses.
o Students who plan to stay for the Christmas Market must be picked up by a parent before 2:55 pm.
o A brief survey will be sent to families to confirm whether your child will stay.
• Middle School will dismiss at 3:00 pm. Students whose parents are attending the event may stay on campus. Students whose parents are not attending will be supervised until school buses depart at 3:35 pm.
• High School will dismiss at 3:00 pm. They may choose to attend the event or take the school bus at 3:35 pm.

Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we make this adjustment with sensitivity and care for our wider community. We look forward to welcoming you to a joyful and meaningful Christmas Market experience on December 12.

Fall Drama Production
The drama department will present the play, Order Up!, this Friday, December 5, at 7:00 pm in the 4th floor auditorium. Order Up! is the newest restaurant in town and is attracting some very interesting customers. Find out what everyone is talking about this Friday. The performance is free!

Snow Day Policy
As we enter the winter season, precautions are taken to ensure that our students and staff members have a safe commute both to and from school. Read the Snow Day Policy for more information.

We will make every effort to announce delay and closure information before 6:30 am. In making decisions, Mr. Miller will consider the weather conditions and advice from the local authorities. In the event of a delayed start or campus closure, a notice will be sent via text message through the YHIS Notification WeChat group. In the event of an early dismissal on a school day, parents will be notified via text message before noon through the YHIS Notification WeChat group.

Shark Times November, 2025
The Student Newspaper Club has published Shark Times for the month of November. The student journalists have worked hard to keep you informed about what happened in November and to deliver exciting stories and interviews to you.

TEDx March 2026
Our school is proud to host TEDxYantai Huasheng Intl School in the spring semester. The tentative date for the event is March 28th.

YHIS is looking for some student speakers to give presentations at the event. Giving a TED Talk would be a wonderful chance for students to develop speaking skills, share thoughts with our school body, and challenge intellectual thinking. What a great opportunity!

We plan to include 5 secondary student speakers at the event. Students will come up with their own topic and speech according to one of the following categories: Art, Business, Design, Education, Entertainment, Health, Humanities, Life, Public Issues, Science and Math, Social Science, or Tech.

Students may apply to be a speaker at the event by filling out the form that was sent to secondary students' email account this week. Applications will include a description of the speech along with a short video introduction. A panel of teachers will select the top 5 students to participate in the TEDx event. All applications are due on January 13th.
