Winter MAP® Testing
As part of the LifePlus network of schools, YHIS is conducting the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests as a form of standardized testing from Wednesday, January 7, to Friday, January 23. The testing dates and times by grade level. The tests will be administered on school computers or iPads.

Tested Subject Areas by Grade:

Kindergarten: Reading, Math
Grade 1: Reading, Math
Grades 2-5: Reading, Math, Language
Grades 6-10: Reading, Math, Language, Science

All K & Elementary students will participate in MAP testing. For Secondary, MAP testing will be administered only to Semester 1 new students who did not take MAP Testing, Semester 2 new students, and students who did not pass one or more of the four subject areas.

MAP tests determine your child’s instructional level and measure academic growth, both throughout the school year and from year to year, in the areas of Math, Language, Reading, and Science. MAP tests are unique in that they are adaptive tests. That means that the test becomes more difficult with the more questions your child answers correctly. When your child incorrectly answers a question, the test becomes easier. Therefore, your child will take a test specifically catered to his or her learning level.

Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, teachers use this information to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for
instruction in similar skills and topics. They then plan their instruction accordingly so that students learn optimally.

There is no additional studying that students need to put in for this test. Rather, the test serves as an assessment tool for where a student’s levels are currently. The school is excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement.

LifePlus Middle School VEX Robotics Competition
The LifePlus MS VEX Robotics Competition is taking place on January 9-10, 2026. Wuhan Yangtze International School (WYIS) is hosting the competition, and 24 students in MS Robotics class and club are participating in the competition. This will provide a good opportunity for the students to present not only their robotics skills, but also their problem-solving skills. They will showcase their “Teamwork, Controlling, and Programming Skills”. Go Sharks!
