MAP® Testing
As part of the LifePlus network of schools, YHIS is conducting the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests as a form of standardized testing from Tuesday, April 28, to Friday, May 22. The testing dates and times vary by grade level. The tests will be administered on school computers or iPads for ECC & Elementary students, and on personal laptops for Secondary students.

Tested Subject Areas by Grade:
Kindergarten & Grade 1: Reading, Math
Grade 2: Reading, Math, Language
Grades 3-5: Reading, Math, Language, Science
Grades 6-10: Reading, Math, Language

MAP tests determine your child’s instructional level and measure academic growth, both throughout the school year and from year to year, in the areas of Math, Language, Reading, and Science. MAP tests are unique in that they are adaptive tests. That means that the test becomes more difficult with the more questions your child answers correctly. When your child incorrectly answers a question, the test becomes easier. Therefore, your child will take a test specifically catered to his or her learning level.

Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, teachers use this information to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics. They then plan their instruction accordingly so that students learn optimally.

There is no additional studying that students need to put in for this test. Rather, the test serves as an assessment tool for where a student’s levels are currently. The school is excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement.

Announcement from Admissions Office
As we approach the end of the second semester, we understand that some families may be repatriating to their home country. If you know that you will be leaving YHIS at the end of this semester, we kindly request that you inform us by completing this survey before Friday, April 24. We will then send a withdraw form home with your child. We hope to have some time to support your child through the transition process and prepare necessary documents. Please note that upon submission of the withdraw form, we will prepare the necessary documents for your child. As the semester ends on Wednesday, June 10, the documents will only be available for pick up from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the admissions office on that day.

LifePlus Annual Parent Survey
We know that parents play an essential role in the success of students at school, and we thank you for your continued partnership and support. Family and community engagement is strong at LifePlus schools, and we aim to make it even better for our families, students, and teachers.

As part of our ongoing continuous improvement, we invite you to take part in our annual parent survey. The survey will ask you questions about your school’s learning environment, educational programs, your child’s teachers, school safety, school-home communication, and parental involvement opportunities. We need your perspective as we evaluate these aspects of our schools, and we appreciate your comments. The LifePlus leadership team, principals, and school improvement teams will use the results to help guide both the consortium and individual schools.

Labor Day Holiday
