Musical, Sound of Music
We are excited to announce that YHIS will present its 4th annual musical, The Sound of Music, on April 24 and 25 at 7:00 pm in the YHIS Theater.

Adding to the excitement, we are delighted to share that we have been invited to present this musical at the Yantai Grand Theater in downtown Yantai. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to perform in a fully professional theater and for the wider Yantai community to experience the meaningful work taking place at YHIS. There will be two performances at the Grand Theater on Sunday, April 26, at 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm.

This American musical is based on The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria von Trapp, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. It features 53 students from YHIS and YIA playing leading and supporting roles, as well as our fifth grade class filling out the ensemble.

The YHIS community is invited to join us for what is sure to be a memorable performance by our drama students.

Spring Break
Spring Break begins on Monday, April 6, and runs until Friday, April 10. School resumes on Monday, April 13. Have a wonderful time with your family!

1. Test Location and Arrival Time
   Students should arrive 30 minutes before the start of the exam.

Arrival 8:30 | Test 9:00 — Level A (Grades 1–2), Room 115
Arrival 10:00 | Test 10:30 — Levels B–C (Grades 3–6), 4th-floor auditorium
Arrival 13:30 | Test 14:00 — Levels D–F (Grades 7–12), 4th-floor auditorium

High School Movie Night
The High School Student Council will hold a movie night for high school students on Friday, April 3 after school. Students will eat a pizza dinner, eat snacks, watch Zootopia 2, and participate in other team-building activities. The event will finish at 9:30 pm and students should arrange their own transportation home. Permission forms and the registration fee will be sent home with students on Monday.

TEDx 2026
The annual TEDx event will take place on Saturday, April 18. The event will take place from 1:30-2:30 pm in the YHIS 4th-Floor Auditorium. 5 student speakers will present topics such as cancer research, social impacts, and AI implementation. Speaker information and the attendee registration form will be shared next week.
